When Peter returned home from Iraq for brief mid-deployment leave, I had the opportunity to document his reunion at the airport with his wonderful family. Sending all of you warm wishes; Peter for safety and comfort until you're home to stay. Thanks to you and your family for all your sacrifices and service.
Also, thanks and a hug to my very special friends Nancy and Suzanne for watching my kids so I could be part of this reunion. Short notice with military travel!

Chivon and Chris traveled from Las Vegas for an extremely fun wedding at Garten Verein in Galveston. Congratulations you two!
I could go out to sea and watch the whales everyday. I grew up in Gloucester, MA and come home absolutely every chance I get. The kids and I are lucky to spend the summers up here and it's the highlight of my year. Took a break from wedding editing yesterday and the kids and I had the best afternoon off of Gloucester on Capt. Bill and Sons Whale Watch. There are lots of Whale Watches out of New England, but this one is absolutely the best. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice, boat is great and they know how to find the whales. Unlike many other whale watches, this one is affiliated with Whale Center of New England, a non-profit organization that conducts research, provides education and leadership in local conservation efforts. Such a valuable resource! A naturalist and interns from the Whale Center are aboard to answer questions and provide great narrative about the whales and their behaviors. They're also collecting data. We were so lucky yesterday to encounter this spectacular humpback whale breaching. If you're in the New England area, absolutely take a trip out to Stellwagen Bank with Captain Bill! I'm planning to sneak in one more trip out before we head back to Houston.
Just wanted to quickly post a few favorites from Lauren and Craig's wedding yesterday in Little Compton, RI before they head out tomorrow for their honeymoon in South Africa. Very Cool! Such a sweet and emotional ceremony followed by a very lively celebration. Congratulations! And, special thanks to Lauren's beautiful sister, Ashley for introducing us!

I was so happy to learn that this image came in 1st place in the Emotion category in the most recent Wedding Photojournalist Association competition.
If I hadn't been such a slug about blogging, I'd have posted this a couple of months ago from ago in the 3rd quarter competition.
WPJA is a large international association of some of the best wedding photojournalists out there, and it's an honor to be a member. To have images place in competition is really exciting. I couldn't be happier that the 2010 wedding season has started; so much fun to be out shooting! It's all about the people, the light and the moments. And, I'm going to try not to be such a loser about blogging.
Was so glad to have the opportunity to spend a little time with this special couple before Tony's deployment to Iraq in a few days. I'm really looking forward to meeting the baby when he arrives! Stay safe, Tony.
This post is just a very small thank you to Andrew who's stationed in Iraq on his second deployment there. We'll be thinking of you tomorrow on Veteran's Day. Shella and Samuel are thinking about you every waking moment, but you probably already knew that.
