Shella, Andrew, and Samuel

This is a recent family session done a few days before Andrew's second deployment to Iraq.  I'm at a loss to express my thanks to this family for all they do and sacrifice for us, so I'll just send my wishes for Andrew to stay safe and post their pictures.

Amanda and Adam

Amanda and Adam recently tied the knot at the  Gallery in Houston.  The wedding was coordinated by wedding coordinator extraordinaire  Sabrina Patrick.  It was a wonderful wedding with so many pretty and well thought out details.  I was so glad that my friend and fellow Houston photographer,  Arika Jordan was available to shoot with me!  Thanks, Arika!

Here are just a few favorites from the day.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. M. !!!  Thanks for letting us be part of your special day!!

Holiday Greetings from the Productivity Assassin

Allison, Tucker and Jack

I was pretty excited when Allison asked if it was ok to include her lab, Belle and Tucker's lab, Jack in their engagement shoot.  Since the best thing about my own personal bridal portrait was the inclusion of my sweet, old yellow lab, Allison hardly had to twist my arm.

Unfortunately, Belle was able to make the session work with her current charm school schedule.  But, Jack was there and did an outstanding job.  He preferred to be photographed on his own terms, rather than be posed.  Likely he prefers photojournalistic photography over traditional studio work.  A man after my own heart.

Jack definitely preferred to remain with Tucker's electromagnetic field, which meant not moving 12 or 14 inches away from Tucker.

And he was extremely gracious about being photographed with his new mom.

And, onto the betrothal...

Can't wait till your wedding this spring!  And Jack, you're the man.  I thought it was pretty cool that you're a working retriever.  That you can flush those ducks too.... you've got my heart.

Courtney and Jason

This was such a fun wedding.  Courtney and Jason were married at Champion Forest Baptist Church and had their reception at Chateau Polonez, which is where we did Courtney's bridal portraits a few weeks before the wedding.

I LOVED her happy little red shoes, which were perfect for dancing at the reception.

When I arrived at Chateau Polonez to grab some shots of Courtney and her team getting ready, the reception tables were already set for the party.  So pretty!

Got all excited when I looked a little closer and saw that the pretty red berries used to decorate the tables were CRANBERRIES!  I've never seen that done before, and that's the official food of my homeland, Massachussetts.  Well, not exactly the official food, but they're a lot more popular up there than in Texas.  And I love them.  Probably, you already know this, but cranberry sauce is incredibly easy to make.  Just boil a cup of water with a cup of sugar.  Then add a 12 ounce bag of cranberries.  Continue simmering for about 10 minutes till thick and cranberries start to pop.  You can add a couple tablespoons of grated orange zest, if you like a sweet counterpoint.  Most recipes will tell you to add one tablespoon of orange zest, but don't do it with less than two.  And there you go.  You don't have to eat that gelatinous blob of anemic cranberry sauce that  comes out of a can.  The only thing you'll miss is that disgusting but funny schlurping noise that the cranberry blob makes when it exits the can as a cylindrical unit.

And here's a closer look at those little beauties.

Ok, back to the wedding.  Here are just a few favorites.

Courtney and her Mom right before we left for the church.

And off on trolley car to church.

A quiet moment before the ceremony.

And on to get married.

This image of Courtney and Jason's parents watching their kids' first dance is my favorite.  Probably more as a mom than as a photographer.  It's easy to relate to this sense of wistfulness.  As happy as you are to watch your children grow up and find happiness, it happens just too quickly for most parents.

Congratulations, you two!

Most Adorable Guy in Texas

Ok, maybe I'm a little biased here.  But, even if I weren't, he is the most adorable guy in Texas.  That he's completely lovable too, isn't surprising if you know his mom and dad.  Theirs was my first wedding, and now just look at you!!

That he's so expressive, is only part of his charm.

He's just as cute upside down, as he is right side up!

YIKES! It's Friday the 13th!

So, if you have your first skydiving lesson scheduled for today, you may want to consider re-scheduling.  Just a thought.

Enough already

Ok, I've been procrastinating for months and months with this blog.  I think what's had me immobilized is the feeling that I'm supposed to come up with something insightful, or some universal truth about life and art.... something big and important.

Clearly, that's not happening.  And, it's not me.  I'm much better at just plain, old, everyday life.  I love all the little things.  So, let's start with a something, rather someone little.  Like Alice.

Feel free to call her Productivity Assassin.  That's what I call her.  It's not easy to work now that she's around.  Not that's she actually doing anything annoying.  It's just that it's nearly impossible to do anything other than pick her up when she looks at me.

Well, ok.  First blog entry and it didn't hurt one bit.  I'll be back with some weddings.

Under Construction

I know, I know.... I'm so overdue for a blog.

Coming soon- thanks for stopping by!
